1. When making religious offerings in public areas, ALWAYS use metal burners or urns. These containers should be placed on sturdy ground and at a distance from other residential premises.
2. Always check the area for smouldering incense or embers and ensure it is completely extinguished after each prayer.
3. For home owners, ALWAYS adopt good housekeeping of the altar. Keep the altar top clean and free from spillage.
4. Never place combustibles near heat sources on the altar.
5. Keep matches, lighters or candles out of children's reach.
6. Installing smoke detectors and proper maintainence of smoke detectors give early warning of danger.
